Obituary published in the Dubuque Telegraph Herald on 14 March 1966: Samuel S Muir, 91, of 1285 Dunleith Court died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Mercy Hospital. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Monday at Egelhof Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1;30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, the Rev. Glenn Johnson of Third presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Mr. Muir was born at Waterloo, Ia., and had lived in Dubuque all his life. He was formerly a machinist for Milwaukee Railroad and retired several years ago. Surviving are one son, Bert, Dubuque; two daughters, Mrs. R.A. (Dorothy) Nevins and Mrs. Harold (Mildred) Paulsen, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; one brother, Albert, Dubuque; and eight grandchildren.
