Flynn and Related Families

OBITUARY (published on funeral card): Dr. John J Flynn, 61, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, August 15, 2000 at his home surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. John was born August 4, 1939 in Eau Claire to James and Mildred (Craney) Flynn. On February 28, 1959 he married Barbara Evanson at St. James The Greater Catholic Church in Eau Claire. He graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota in 1963. He practiced in Waysata, MN for 6-1/2 years before moving back to Eau Claire where he opened Westgate Animal Hospital in 1969. John was active in the community and was a local Veterinarian since the late 1960's. He was a member of the Eau Claire School Board for 23 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He is survived by his wife, Barb; two daughters, Rebecca (Jim) Anthony and Ramona (Robert) Mathews, both of Eau Claire; two sons, Roland of Mishawaka, Indiana, Robert (Ann) of Bay City, WI; two brother, Patrick and Frank "Butch"; one sister, Jane (Donald) Fisher; his mother-in-law, Lois "Tudy" Evanson eight grandchildren, Kyle and Colin Flynn, John King, Alexander, Michelle and Phillip Anthony, Judy (Tom) Maldonado, and James Mathews; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, Rudy Evanson; two brothers, Gerald and Michael. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 18, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James The Greater Catholic Church with the Rev. John Schultz officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
