Ruth Kohlhepp Obituary: Eau Claire Leader-Telegram, Dec 31, 2008: Ruth W. Kohlhepp, 78, went to spend Christmas with Jesus. She passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls. Ruth Winifred Harsh was born on Jan. 21, 1930, in Rock Falls to Leslie and Esther (Black) Harsh. As a child she loved spending time on the farm, especially working outside and riding and caring for her horse, Silver. Ruth moved to Eau Claire and began working at Woolworth's soda fountain. She met William "Tom" Kohlhepp, and they were married on March 14, 1953. They honeymooned in Niagara Falls. They lived in Eau Claire and raised three children, Randy, Dan and Sherri. Ruth worked at Boyd School, went to school for her associate degree and worked as a unit secretary at Luther Hospital. Ruth loved to travel and had visited Alaska, Hawaii, the East Coast, and many Western states. She also traveled to St. Louis, Mo., and Indianapolis, Ind., to see her grandsons in marching band competition. California and Colorado held a special place in her heart as she traveled there numerous times to visit family and friends. She also loved spending time with family and friends. She loved going out for coffee with her sisters, nieces and friends. She enjoyed horses, nature, bird-watching, reading a good mystery and spending time with her beloved dogs, Misty and Foudy. Ruth is survived by her children, Randy (Connie) Kohlhepp of Arvada, Colo., Dan (Lynne) Kohlhepp of Wausau and Sherri Kohlhepp of Eau Claire; honorary daughter, Creanna Cote of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew and Trevor Kohlhepp of Arvada, Colo., and Sara Kohlhepp of Wausau; sisters, Eleanor Holbrook and June (Harold) Rosentrater; and brother, Doug Harsh, all of Eau Claire. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Kohlhepp; parents, Leslie and Esther Harsh; brother, Don Harsh; and an infant sister.
