OBITUARY published in the Rapid City Journal, March 24, 2010: Barbara J. Hamlin (Rapid City) - Barbara J. Hamlin, 87, Rapid City, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Westhills Village Health Care. Barbara was born Feb. 20, 1923, to Charles and Elsie (Harrison) Price in Rapid City. Her school years were spent in Rapid City. She graduated from Rapid City High School in 1941 and went on to attend Business College. She married Robert T. "Bob" Hamlin April 25, 1943, in Rapid City. Two children were born to this marriage, a son and a daughter. Bob passed away Dec. 13, 1976, in Riverside, Calif. Barbara was employed by the University of California, Riverside campus for 20 years, retiring in 1984. She moved back to Rapid City in June of 2007 and was living at Westhills Village Retirement Community. Survivors include her son, Ronald C. (Haruko) Hamlin, San Diego, Calif.; her daughter, Patricia L. Ausman, Hill City; granddaughter, Angela (David) Maas, and two great-grandchildren, Meghan and Max Maas, all of Rapid City; and her sister, Elinor (Thomas L. Sr.) Redditt, Denver. She was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Rodney A. Price; and her husband, Bob. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 25, at the First Congregational Church, 1200 Clark St., with the Rev. Dr. Ted Huffman officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Robert T. Hamlin, at Olivewood Cemetery in Riverside at a later date.
