He was born on Sept. 4, 1915, in Antigo, the son of Joseph and Mary (Yentz) Boll. After graduating from high school, Chet moved to Milwaukee, where he and Jack Forrest started the B & F Floor Company. While there, he met Gertrude Crist, whom he married in Darlington on Sept. 14, 1940. They lived in Milwaukee until 1950 when they moved to Darlington and purchased the Spot Tavern. He later worked for Darlington Farms, Glendenning's Ready Mix, and the City of Darlington before his retirement in 1977. In retirement, Chet loved to do woodworking, play cards, and bark at anyone he could. He also enjoyed onwing and racing his horses. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. Chet is survived by his son, Joe (Judy) Boll of Darlington, and by his three grandchildren, Jake, Janelle and Jason Boll of whom he was extremely proud, and they helped keep him young. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gert, in 1984; his parents; and his five brothers and sisters, Roy, Lila, Lola, Clayton and Marie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2006, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington with Father Thomas Kelley officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
