OBITUARY published in The Washington Post, Sep 7, 2006, quoted on ANCESTRY.COM: FOX, MARGARET ROSE - On August 27, 2006, in Monroe, WI, formerly of Washington, DC, where she was a member of St. Ann's Church and where she was employed over the years at the National Bureau of Standards, the Research Information Center and Advisory Service on Information Processing (RICASIP), the Office of Computer Information in the NBS Institute of Computer Science and Technology. After retiring in 1975, Margaret and her sister Myra began traveling to the Eucharistic Congress beginning in 1964. Survivors include three sisters, Agnes (Joseph) Fernandez of Westminster, CA, Myra C Fox of Evanston, IL and A. Josephine Richardson of Monroe, Wi; 10 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clarence Leo Fox and Raymond Fox. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, September 11, 2006 at 5 p.m. at St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe, WI. There will be a graveside service at a later date. OBITUARY: publisher unknown: Margaret Rose Fox, 90, a longtime resident of Washington, DC, died August 27, 2006, at Harbor House, Monroe. She was born May 19, 1916 in Calamine, the daughter of Michael Thomas and Anna Loretta (McDonald) Fox. Margaret attended county school in Calamine and Truman before graduating from Darlington High School. She taught school for a year before entering Wisconsin State College in Platteville. She would teach for a year and attend school for a year until she graduated in 1940. She continued her teaching career at various schools in Wisconsin and Illinois until 1943, when she entered the U.S. Naval Reserves and was stationed at the Naval Research Station in Washington, DC. Margaret continued to work at the research station as an electronics engineer in radar following her honorable discharge in 1946. |
