OBITURY found on FindAGrave.com: Matt was born on June 2, 1953, son of Dick and Jean (Dorsey) Schnurr. Matt died Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at home after a short, but courageous batle with cancer. Matt Graduated from St. Edmond high school and attended college at the University of Iowa. He then returned to Fort Dodge where he worked until moving to Indian Hills, California, worked as a security guard. He married Diana Rogers in December 1989 in California where they made their home until moving back to Fort Dodge in 2003 to raise their family. He retired several years ago due to health issues. Matt will be remembered for his story tellling skills, love of music, being one who was always ready with a joke and concern for others. Matt loved spending time with his family, especially his children. He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Dee. His children, Jacque, Irvine, CA, and Zach, Fort Dodge. Brothers: Don (Darlene) Twin Lakes and Tom (Beth) Des Moines. Sister: Sally (Bruce) Shimkat, Fort Dodge, Sister-in-law Kay Schnurr, Fort Dodge. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, all of whom thought the world of him. Matt was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Jean (Dorsey) Schnurr and his borther, Pat. Memorial mass will take place at 10:30 AM, Monday, February 8 at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy, celebrant. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date for immediate family. |
