Shared note

On April 5, 1918, Felix was granted title to 320 acres in Powder River County, Wyoming, by homestead. This land is located in Section 14, Township 9-S, Range 54-E. It is adjacent to land that was later homesteaded by his mother, Helen Bruner, by his brother, Frank Bruner, and by Frank's wife, Daisy Bruner.

According to military hospital records, Felix enlisted in the US Army on June 24, 1918 [record says 1919, but that would after his discharge date] at San Pedro, California, and was assigned as a private to Company H, 127th Infantry Division. He served until June 2, 1919, when he was discharged at Fort D.A. Russel, Wyoming. On July 14, 1921, he was admitted to the Battle Mountain Sanitarium, Hot Springs, South Dakota, suffering from a "varicocele - left." He was discharged from that hospital on May 7, 1922. The records indicate that when admitted he was 29 years old, 5'9" tall, medium complexion, had blue eyes and brown hair, that he could read and write, that he was Catholic, that he was single, and that his occupation was pipe fitter. His nearest relative was his father, Thomas Bruner of Rapid City, South Dakota.
